A blog? In 2022?

Greetings, Earthlings! A short-ish introductory post, a prologue if you will, to explain why in the year 2022 did I feel it necessary to have a blog. Ignoring the fact I'm just a sucker for nostalgia (and even the word blog takes me back about 15 years), the main purpose behind this site is so my writing has a home for the foreseeable future. I'm also making myself available for extra freelance work and wanted to dedicate a space to my collection of online content projects and video / photo work. These days most of my writing is confined to my day job as a Marketing Exec where I produce content for our websites, magazines we advertise in, social media and the like - though the subject matter isn't what I'd call a bleeding passion, so outside of work, I also write for things I do have more of a personal interest in. This ranges from video game related content in the form of Youtube video scripts and podcasts, to even mildly-spicy takes on Twitter relating to movies, wrestling and such.

Growing up I dreamed of making documentaries, or being a late night radio presenter, covering weird and terrifying stories from true-crime, the making of music and movies, the paranormal, and even history (which is a bit of a catch-all term I suppose). As my career went on, the notion of 'being a writer' is something I had never considered part of my repertoire, or as a 'path' I could take, but in recent years I realised I was writing more than I was doing anything else, and it's something I've begun to actively study, and train myself to be better at. So that's what you'll find here! I'll be honing my technique. Celebrating what I enjoy. Exploring weirdness. Whatever takes my fancy really. The hope being you can celebrate and explore with me - or get in touch and argue with me about why I'm wrong. That's what a lot of the internet is for isn't it - arguing with people? I do have goals. I'm working towards a much larger writing project - my biggest undertaking ever. I'd also love to be involved with publications more in-line with my passions. So if you do end up reading what I post here, and you like it, and you could use a few extra words for your magazine or website, give me a shout. I'm putting myself out there.

Expect to find reviews of movies, games, and such. Interviews, project updates, and who knows what else. Indulge me though, while I do as N.W.A implored, and express myself. - KDB
